  1. Is there a process within your enterprise for choosing social media vendors? Which group oversees vendor selection (IT, Marketing, Product Management)?
  2. Who are the leading vendors in the social media application space?
  3. Who are the best White label social media vendors?
  4. Many ad firms and consulting firm claim to recommend a specific vendor they are comfortable with rather than the best in their field. How do you handle vendor recommendations to be sure they are legitimate?
  5. Who owns your data if you choose a vendor? How difficult will it be to migrate to a different platform?

IDC found in 2007 that enterprise users were indeed using all sorts of social media tools on a regular

basis. 25.4% of employees in large enterprises were contributing to blogs more than three times a week

for business purposes. A full 53.4% of all large enterprise employees read blogs more than three times a

week. However, it was also clear that many of these social media tools were not being managed by

enterprise IT groups – 20% of the companies surveyed managed none of the social applications being
