Regulation

Web 2.0 in the Enterprise

  1. How involved is your legal counsel with social media policies and initiatives?
  2. How are you applying existing compliance, privacy, security & discovery procedures when considering new technologies? What areas of the organization are involved?
  3. What criteria are you using to assess authentication & security needs?
  4. What is the internal policy on the use of social technologies for the employees (Facebook, Myspace, Twitter)?

Customer Facing Social Technologies

  1. Does your company have an internal blogging or social media policy? How many bloggers do you estimate you have blogging internally? How many do you have blogging on their personal time?
  2. Are your blog initiatives internal or are there outward or external consumption facing blogs from the organization?
  3. Do you have blog ambassadors help enforce guidelines for political discussion, profanity, attacks, etc.?
  4. When it comes to regulating comments on your brand you have to act “like a host of a party rather than a cop.” How hard is this for your organization? (How open is your organization to feedback?)
  5. How do you deal with negative comments on your blog or product forums?
  6. Some companies have FDA or HIPPA regulation on customer facing social technologies distributed by the organization. Can such regulation stifle organic conversation and interaction with the consumer?
  7. If you have product forums, what is the company's philosophy on participation there? If so, to what extent?
  8. If you have product forums what are the goals for it? Is this expressed to the moderators (both formal & peer leaders there)?
